The Un-Birthday Party (and other events)

with 3 comments

Hudson’s has grown steadily over the last year (my excuse for the infrequent posts), and in addition to supplying the cafes we’ve started doing a bit of catering.

My favourite so far (being a big Alice in Wonderland fan – although not the latest film) was an Un-Birthday / Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.  We supplied Scones (plain and fruit), Muffins (cherry-marzipan, and pear-ginger) and our famous “Chocolate & Lausitzer Porter” cake. A couple of photo’s below courtesy of the organiser, K. Umlauft.

In early June we provided ProductCamp (Berlin) with lots of lovely cakes, brownies, blondies and muffins – they ate the lot! You can see some photos on Flickr.

Other events include meetings at the Berliner Festspiele and numerous meetings and events at Betahaus.

  1. Last autumn I got it into my head to host an Alice in Wonderland tea party with vintage crockery and outdoor games and costumes. Thus, I was browsing the web for a supplier of scones here in Berlin and came across Hudson’s. I got in touch with Jim and Katie who handled my order in an uncomplicated manner, offered a very good service and even better cakes and pastries. Subsequently, I had ball of a day as you can probably guess from above pictures. Good weather, sparkling wine, games of plenty, tea, good company and finally excellent food to which Hudson’s contributed greatly. The Chocolate & Lausitzer Porter cake was moist and rich and complimented on by all guests. The scones loved by my British and Australian colleagues. My favorites were the rosewater pastries which have a lovely lemony zest. I did not even get to try the muffins due to my guest having been faster.
All in all, I can thoroughly recommend Hudson’s. I for my part I was very happy and will surely be ordering from them again for my next tea party event.

  2. I keep meaning to go to one of the places you supply when I see your updates on Twitter! One of these days I will get my act together and actually do it! Lovely cakes by the way.
